Things to do this week (commencing 10th August) in Peterborough

I love sharing posts to help local families find things to do. It can be really difficult especially as some of you would have been entertaining your children since March. Last week I received a lot of positive feedback in regards to these posts and it makes me really happy knowing I am helping people. So I thought I would share another post to give some ideas on what you can do this week.

Week commencing 10th August – What to do

The weather this week is going to be Hot and Wet!

Monday – With no rain planned it maybe the ideal day to catch up with the Six Weeks of Summer at Nene Park. On Saturday they released their latest clue over on social media, make sure to take a selfie and enter the giveaway. Don’t forget to pick up some Duck Feed and head to the lakes to feed the ducks, they are given out in exchange for a donation). Nene Park has a selection of motobility scooters to hire, you just need to phone and book a timeslot! As well as the clues to solve there is also a new trail starting! For £1 you can buy a trail sheet and then bring it back to the visitor centre for a prize. Don’t forget to pop to either Ferry Meadows Cafe or Lakeside Restaurant and Bar to make use of the Eat Out To Help Out scheme.

Central Library opens this week (between 10am-2pm) so you can go and borrow books again! There are some covid procedures in place such as face coverings needing to be worn (if you are able to), Hand sanitiser being used and details being taken for Track and Trace. There is 30 minute book browsing time and an hour for computer use.

Tuesday – £1 Adults, £1 child (all proceeds will be going to Peterborough City Hospital) – Visit the petting zoo at Mulberry Tree Farm. Between 11am and 3pm Wycomb Pastures Farm will be visiting Mulberry Tree Farm with a selection of animals to see. Due to restrictions they are only bringing the larger animals, which means unfortunately there will be no rabbits or guinea pigs. No booking needed however it will mean there will be queues so you maybe waiting. However the Eat Out To Help Out scheme is running and Mulberry are taking part! So stay for tea and cake.

Wednesday – You can treat the family and children to Afternoon Tea at Dobbies. Have a read of what I thought when we went over the weekend. Pre-book is essential and you can make full use of the Eat Out To Help Out Scheme!

With the weather being alot drier in the morning, you could take a family walk through local woodland or visit a country park. Here are 11 fun activities to do whilst on a walk to give you some ideas.

Thomas is back at Nene Valley Railway with limited trips from Wansford to Yarwell! Check out the details here.

Thursday – Such a wet day! I have created a few How To blog posts, so you could make full use of being at home by having a go at the recipes! I would love to see what you create! Here are a couple – Scones, Donuts, Simple Bread Rolls, and Honeycomb.

For over 10s and adults – Back at Nene Park for their Birds Of Prey Experience! Places need to be booked in advance here. Prices are £16 per person and you could have a bird of prey land on your arm!!

Friday – The weather is going to be pretty on and off. Rain is expected pretty much most of the day with a 4 hour break midday! There are a few indoor places beginning to open such as Inflata Nation and Boundless Fun. For me personally I am not quite ready for indoor play with my boys, however if you are, then it’s worth a look into.

Sacrewell Farm (not the indoor play area) is open and taking bookings for either a morning or afternoon session. Plus, there is always a visit to Hamerton (pre covid visit), Railworld Wildlife Haven or if you haven’t been yet, a trip to see the Nile Crocodiles.

However, we need some more meal ideas to try and change things up. Do you have any suggestions?
