I’ll be honest with you, we love bread in our house! The boys will have a slice or two with pretty much most meals to help fill them up. Arthur especially, as he is so fussy with his food! Since the boys are back at school we have been buying bread rolls but in all honesty I am getting really frustrated with the all extra plastic packaging. So I have been trying out recipe after recipe to find how to make really simple bread rolls. I think I have it! So I thought I would share it below!
Last week I shared How to make honeycomb! Click here if you want the recipe!
How to make really simple bread rolls

Ingredients
- 500grams of strong bread flour (plus a little extra)
- 300ml of warm water
- 2x7g packets of quick acting yeast
- 2tsps Salt
- 2tsps Caster Sugar
- Vegetable oil
Method

- Use a little vegetable oil to grease the baking tray.
- Sieve the strong bread flour into a large bowl.
- Mix in the yeast, sugar and salt
- Make a well in the middle of the dried ingredients
- Slowly add the warm water and mix it altogether as you go using a wooden spoon.
- Dust some flour onto the work surface and put the dough onto it.
- Knead the dough – Push down in the dough stretching and flattening it as you go. Fold in half and repeat. Do this for 10 minutes until the dough is soft and smooth.
- Divide the mixture into 8 pieces and roll into balls.
- Place on the baking tray and wrap in either cling film, reusable wax wrap, or a damp tea towel for 45 minutes. Place in a warm place.
- Preheat the oven at gas 7, 220°C, fan 200°C
- When the dough has doubled in size place into the oven for 18-20 minutes
