We were gifted with passes to Sacrewell Farm

With restrictions starting to ease on local attractions I was really eager to see how Sacrewell Farm was coping. Last weekend (5th July) they opened to the general public and I booked a visit. The boys and I were both really excited to come back to what is one of our favourite places to visit. We arrived just before 9 am and was surprised there wasn’t any queue getting into reception. We walked up to the entrance and waited outside until we were called through. I wasn’t entirely sure what the process was as we were the first visitors. However once in reception, I gave them my booking details and used the hand sanitiser beside the till.

Visiting Sacrewell Farm

We walked straight through reception and the boys were really keen on playing outside. It was lovely seeing them running around carefree and just playing and it has certainly made a difference from them being stuck indoors. It was lovely to see the animals too! There are some exciting changes coming to Sacrewell Farm over the next 12 months including a whole new outdoor play area. It all looks really impressive and the timescale for completion is October.

As well as a new outdoor play area there is going to be shops coming into Sacrewell. If you are a frequent visitor (or been before) then these new units will be placed where the smaller animals used to be kept. So far there is a chocolate shop and sweet shop confirmed to move in.

The animals are moving right to the top of the farm where the machinery is currently being kept. It is all going to be re-furbed and the plans that were shared with me sounds really exciting. I think these will bring a much needed boost to the farm and I am looking forward to seeing all the new upcoming additions and changes.

What you want to know

When can I visit?

There are currently 2 sessions bookable per day at Sacrewell. The morning session is 9am-12pm and the afternoon session is 1-4pm. There is an hour between sessions to ensure cleaning can be undertaken. Origin8 is open throughout the day.

How many handwashing stations are there?

Hand sanitiser can be found at reception by each till as well as throughout the farm. There are 7 handwashing/Hand gel points throughout the farm.

Are the playareas open? What’s closed?

All outdoor play parks are open, including the sand area and trec. However the tractor school is closed as well as the Playbarn.

Can we buy food?

Yes! Origin8 is still open as usual and food and drink can be bought and enjoyed eating outside. There are picnic benches (all socially distanced) as well as plenty of spaces for picnics.

What about the toilets?

Toilets are still open as usual and can be found in reception and in the mill house.

However, we need some more meal ideas to try and change things up. Do you have any suggestions?
