We have been making the absolute most of having the time at home. The boys have really been getting into baking and I love enabling that. All this week I have seen photos of people sharing their incredible Homemade Doughnuts so I wanted to give it a try. They turned out amazingly and as the recipe was super quick I thought I would share with you all so you can try them too!

Homemade Doughnuts
Ingredients
- 250g Plain flour (we used self raising flour, so either would be fine)
- 1/2 teaspoon of salt
- 70g cold unsalted butter
- 1 teaspoon of baking powder
- 170ml of milk

Method
- Mix all the ingredients together apart from the milk. You want to see a breadcrumb like texture
- Slowly add the milk into the mixture

- create a firm dough
- Roll out the dough to a roughly 1 cm thickness
- Cut the homemade doughnuts into shapes, you can use 2 circle cookie cutters, or if like me you only have 1. I used a bottle lid to create the inside circle. You can then choose to either cook the middle of the doughnut or re add to the dough to make more doughnuts.

- In a saucepan or deep frying pan add oil and heat it.
- Slowly add the doughnuts into the oil, be careful of any oil splash back. Flip the doughnuts every so often ensuring that it is golden brown on both sides.
- Once golden brown bring them out an dip in sugar, or you can create toppings.

I have never made doughnuts before and now I really want to. They do look so simple to make and look delicious. x
I’ve always thought this was too difficult to make. I’ll definitely try it now, thank you for adding photos which makes it easier to understand.
