When Dobbies Garden Centre announced they were opening some of their Afternoon Bookings. My sister was quick to get things booked. Our last visit was last year when we all met up to celebrate our mum’s birthday. We had a lovely visit and for me, it was my first proper Afternoon Tea. So when my sister got in touch to arrange another visit, I couldn’t wait. Even more so as it felt like an absolute age since I last saw any of them!
Afternoon Tea at Dobbies Garden Centre
Thanks to Covid (which has a lot to answer for!) face masks need to be worn in the centre. Once we reached the restaurant area and got shown to our tables we were able to take them off. It was really hot inside and with bookings being a little slow I started feeling really hot. However it wasn’t long before our Afternoon Tea arrived and we were tucking in.
With Covid there are are a few measures in place to ensure safety. So as I mentioned facial masks (if you are able to wear them) need to be worn and there are hand sanitiser stations on the entry to the store as well as by the toilets. The tables were not too distanced however I think ideally they were spacing groups out however I overheard a few asking to be seated near the open door. So it soon became busy where we were seated. The tables and chairs were cleaned after use and all the staff, including chefs were wearing face masks.
Afternoon Tea as usual was really lovely! There were a few items that had been replaced, so no more chocolate brownie and no batten berg either. Instead there was a Victoria sponge slice and a chocolate cheesecake which tasted just as delicious as the brownie. The Sandwich fingers were Salmon, Egg Mayo, Cucumber and Ham and there were 2 lots of each. As well of course as plain and fruit scones. All in all there was plenty to eat and with tea/coffee or apple/orange juices there was plenty to drink too.

Can I walk in? Dobbies Afternoon Tea is pre-book only through their website.
What times can i come? Timings are staggered throughout the door to allow social distancing.
Are there any other options? When booking online there is the option to choose either a traditional afternoon tea or there are vegan and kids options
What’s included? The Traditional afternoon tea comes with a selection of finger sandwiches, scones as well as mini cakes, slices and strawberry tart. Tea/coffee is included too! (£10.95 per person)
The Vegan option comes with -freshly prepared falafel wraps and vegan sausage rolls, selection of delicious vegan cakes (brownie, orange and apricot slice, banana and berry slice, carrot and pistachio slice), plain and fruit scones with fruit jam, plus a pot of tea or filter coffee (£10.95 per person)
The Kids Option – two flower shaped sandwiches, carrot and celery sticks with cream cheese dip, mini treats: chocolate muffin, mini doughnuts, chocolate strawberry and grapes, plus a Capri-Sun (£5.70 per child)
