We have been making the most of getting outside when we can. With 3 boys stuck inside it can sometime feel a bit too much, however after a walk we tend to feel so much better for it. I thought I would share some fun activities that you can do too whilst out. So whether you are looking for something simple to do whilst out and about or activities to do outside then read on feel inspired and get ideas.

11 Fun activities to do whilst out on a walk
Nature Hunt – Print off our own nature hunt, or create your own. List all the things you may find whilst out and about and tick them off as you find them. If you have any Clipboards they would come in useful for this.
Collect leaves/twigs/sticks/flowers to use for crafts at home – There are so many craft activities (I will publish a post shortly) you can use with items you find on your walks. So whenever you are out and about use your time to collect some resources for future crafts and activities.
Vehicle Survey – My 3 boys really love doing this and it helps with colours, numbers and sorting. It is simple really, create a chart and place a tick whenever you see a car, lorry, van, motorbike etc. You may choose to keep it simple by ticking off colours, or different vehicles. When home you can then get them to create a bar chart compiling all the information they have found.
Learn a new way to travel – Be that skipping, rollerskating, skateboarding. There is literally no better time than to learn a new skill.
Climb a tree, roll in grass and surround yourself in nature – Sounds simple but sometimes it is the simple activities and things we do that can create some of our best memories.
Colour Hunt – Using the same idea behind a scavenger hunt except you are finding all the things that match a colour.
Sketch your surroundings –
Paper, Pencil and maybe a clip board. Sketch your surroundings, whether it be a whole landscape or maybe a flower or a tree.
I Spy – Depending on how often you have walks you can either choose a letter of the alphabet per day or a specific colour. This is good for younger children.
Nature Bracelets/Board – Using toilet tubes/paper plate/cardboard and some double sided sticky tape it is a lovely way to be able to collect all the items you can find on your walk. From flowers, to different shaped leaves, stick them all the bracelet.
Make a Chalk Busy Walk on the path – I have loved seeing all the busy chalk paths recently. These are great for when time is limited or there isn’t much space. Create your own busy path and get creative.
Nature Sun catcher -It is a similar idea to the nature bracelets, but using a paper plate and sticky back plastic. Cut out the middle of the paper plate, leaving only the outer ring. Stick onto sticky back plastic. The inside of the plate is where to stick flowers and leaves whilst on your walk.
