This is a new event for the market which we’re hoping will become an annual event, or perhaps even more regular if it’s popular.

Once Upoon a Festival @ Central Park, Pe1 4dz – 11am-5pm – Due to last year’s popularity, Once Upon a Festival is happening again this summer! With fun activities to see and do, there’s something for the whole family.
Expect storytelling, creative workshops, outdoor theatre, music and much more…

It will be displayed in the Cathedral from Saturday 11th August until Monday 5th November 2018. It is also expected that Tim Peake’s own spacesuit will also be part of the display, as well as the parachute used in the spacecraft’s return to earth.

The Green Festival @ Ferry Meadows – FREE – 10am-4pm -The event encourages visitors to discover how to live more sustainably and to develop long-term behaviour change. Areas of focus include everything from sustainable transport, recycling, locally and sustainably produced food, and nature and biodiversity.

There are lots of opportunities for audience participation, and the Festival also includes exciting environmental-themed art works by local artists who are specially commissioned to highlight sustainability issues in innovative and engaging ways. PECT is delighted to have been awarded Arts Council England funding for this.

Moments with Trees – Big Tree Hunt @ Ferry Meadows, Nene Park Trust – 10am – A mass participation walk following an interesting, enjoyable and environmentally friendly route to Ferry Meadows. East Anglian Air Ambulance Emergency Services Fun Day @ Ferry Meadows, Nene Park Trust – 10am –  The East Anglian Air Ambulance Emergency Services Fun Day is back at Ferry Meadows following an amazing turn out in 2016!

They will be joined once again by our friends at the East of England Ambulance Service Trust (EEAST), Cambridgeshire Search and Rescue (CamSAR), Cambridgeshire Constabulary, Cambridgeshire Fire and Rescue Service, Cambridgeshire and Suffolk SERV blood riders and NHS Blood and Transport!

There will be children’s fairground rides, face painting and the Ferry Meadows Railway will be donating their train fares on the day to us so enjoy a ride across the park and support EAAA! Hot and cold drinks will be available as well as cakes and an ice cream van, so bring a picnic and spend the day with EAAA.

One of the air ambulance helicopters will arrive on the day – time TBC – so long as the weather is fine to fly and they have not been called out on a mission. A great opportunity to meet our crew, see our helicopter and find out how your donations help us to keep saving lives!

Normal Ferry Meadows parking charges apply. Last year the car parks filled up and the overflow car park will be open, but please consider popping along on your bikes, travelling by bus or using the Nene Valley Railway to reduce traffic!

Kids Tree Climbing @ Ferry Meadows, Nene Park Trust – 11,11.30,12pm, 1pm, 1.30,2pm, 2.30pm – £2 per child – Children can come and have a go at tree climbing in a rope and harness. Virtual Worlds @ Peterborough Central Library – FREE – 11am-1pm – Explore the art of telling stories in an exciting new way at these free sessions for children aged 10-18. This summer holiday Central Library will host artists from One to One Development Trust for these exciting sessions exploring virtual reality and digital storytelling.

14th August 11am-1pm – Create digital art and stories in Virtual Reality

21st August 11am-1pm – Create digital art and stories using Twine software

Children are welcome to come to one or both sessions. Booking in advance is essential as places are strictly limited. Book at any Vivacity Library or email reading@vivacity.org

Junior Sailing Club @ Watersports Centre, Ferry Meadows – 3-4.30pm – £20 – Children aged 8-16 years – Learn basic sailing techniques and manoeuvres, capsize procedures and learn the parts of the boat.
