Earlier on in the year I wrote this post, a post about our camping plans for 2020. However this was also written before Covid-19 literally made the world stop in it’s tracks. Mark and I were just becoming to get to terms with the fact that all our plans stopped and we wasn’t going to go camping. Then Boris Johnson made his announcement and said from July 4th, Campsites with shared facilities can re-open. As long as it is Covid Safe. Well, excitement rose in our house, Camping is back on the cards this year!
We are going camping!!!

So pretty much almost immediately, Mark and I sat together and worked out dates. Back in February we bought a new tent; Hi Gear Enigma 5. So when looking at camping sites we didn’t want to travel too far from home just in case it all goes wrong. We found a couple of campsites; Madhatter Campsite in Ely, and Yarwell Mill Camping and Touring Park. Both sites are within an hour from us and really easy to get too.
Mark has a week off in August so I am thinking ahead to what we can do and where we can go. Last year we went to Merthyr Farm Campsite and despite the campsite being great, our trip was pretty much doomed from the get go. The car wouldn’t start and it needed fixing, it ran into the start of our holiday. We ended up leaving on holiday on Jack’s birthday having a lovely first night but the second night we were caught in winds. It destroyed the tent, we had to sleep in the car and we came home a couple of days early. It really was a trip we won’t be forgetting anytime soon.

Making the most of it!
So here is to 2020 and the year we did get to camping. We are so excited for this little bit of normality right now.
