Kid O Bunk

When we pack to go camping we tend to try and only take the essentials. Space is a premium and we have to utilise as best as we can. We recently reviewed the Travall Guard which has meant we can make the most of our boot and pack high! Knowing that the children will be protected from flying objects if I were to crash is a relief. It has also meant we can think about packing a bit more for comfort and that means we can bring the Kid-O-Bunk Beds with us.

Kid O Bunk

Currently our sleeping arrangements is pretty dire. Our tent ( Gelert Bala Air6) has 1 bedroom with a room separator to make 2 rooms. However the material is flimsy and with the 3 boys there is little to no point in using it. We all use S.I.Ms (Self Inflating Mats) but having 5 beside each other and the bedroom suddenly feels really cramped.

The Kid O Bunk are pretty much camp beds which can be used as either separate beds or put on top of each other and create bunk beds. What sets the Kid O Bunks apart from other camping bunk beds is also the ability to be used as a sofa.

There are also pockets which can be attached to one side. The pockets are great for bottles, glasses and other bits children love to take to bed. There are pockets for both camp beds. My boys, Jack and Oliver both wear glasses so it is handy to have the pocket near them to store their glasses.

Ease of use

Kid O Bunk UKWhen they arrived I was surprised with just how heavy they were. After seeing clips of children carrying them on their shoulder I assumed that they would be rather lightweight. However now I think they just have super strength as I am pretty sure my older 2 boy Jack (9), Oliver (6) would struggle. We couldn’t wait to open them up and get them set up! We wanted to see how difficult it would be. As we were due to be using them on our next camping trip.

Those 2 grey bags in the middle of my car boot are the 2 bags are the Kid O Bunks. When packed they are long and flat (roughly 65inches in length). They are easy to pack though and don’t seem to take up too much space.

You do not need tools of any kind to build the Kid O Bunks and there are no screws. It is really quick to assemble, I managed to make both of them up on my own in under 10 minutes. It was only the second time I had attempted to build them.

Taking them down was really simple too! Although Mark took over and he did it all by himself. I love that 2 people are not needed to build them!

Other uses

The Kid O Bunks are not only great for camping but also great for sleepovers! When the boys spend the night out as there are 3 of them not everybody has enough beds, however now there isn’t an excuse! So hopefully they can go for sleepovers more!

However, we need some more meal ideas to try and change things up. Do you have any suggestions?
