With some of the schools opening this week and some still remaining closed. I thought I would continue with the Things to do posts for this week at least. This will be the last post however I will continue sharing ideas for the weekend throughout the year and of course the school holiday events guides too!
Indoor
With the weather not looking to be all that great, here are some ideas of things inside you can do this week.
Bowling –
Hollywood Bowl opened up for the first time a couple of weeks ago. Open Monday to Sunday from 10am to 9/10/11pm, bowling is a fun way to spend a couple of hours with the family. Hollywood Bowl is on Sturrock Way in Bretton and when you book online you have a couple of offers you can choose to use.
Family Deal – From £20.79 2 adults and 2 children can play a game.
Kids Eat, Drink and Bowl from £7.29per person. This offer is available Monday-Friday up to 7pm.
Ice-Skating –
Another way to spend a couple of hours is Ice-skating. Based on Mallard Road in Bretton, Planet Ice is open Monday to Sunday between the hours of 10.30/11 to 4pm/10pm. Prices start from £3 for under 4’s, Children (4-14) £12.10 and adults are £12.10. You can also buy family tickets which reduces the prices to £9.90 per person.
There are car parking charges to pay too. £1 for up to 3 hours, £2 for up to 24 hours and it is controlled by an ANPR system.
Soft Play
Over the past few weeks, soft plays have been opening up following government guidance. With some yet to open such as Activity World at the soft play inside Dobbies Garden Centre and The Hampton, Brewers Fayre. There are some that have been able to open.
Safari Adventure Play – Safari Play based in Coningsby Road, Bretton it is open 7 days a week. Sessions are bookable online in advance and last for 2.5 hours. Children’s peak prices are;
Under 6 month’s Free
6 -11 months £1.60
1-3 £7.25
4-12 are £8.75,
13-17 years £2.10

Big Sky
Big Sky has been opened for just over a week. Open 7 days a week between 9.15-6pm, sessions need to be booked online in advance. Prices are;
babies under 6 months free
6-12 months £1.50

4-12 years £8.05
Adults £1.95
Concessions £1.50
Some of the changes Big Sky have implemented has been reduced visitor numbers, temperature checks for staff and visitors. Some of the tables have been removed to ensure social distancing and perspex screens have been installed at the reception and cafe areas.
Vivacity Lost World – Lost World had barely been opened before Lockdown in March caused it to close. Opening for the first time on Saturday, it is open Monday to Sunday from 9.30/10am to 4/5.30pm. Lost World not only has a soft play frame but it is also home to a Volcano Slide and Climbing Wall. Each with their own varying price structure.
Soft Play – Within the soft play area and included in the soft play entry, our interactive climbing game is the only one of its kind in Peterborough. Including 2 person challenges, explorers choose the activity that they want from a choice of multiple games that are sure to get the heart racing.

Volcano Slide – 15 minutes on the Volcano Slide

Climbing Wall – 30-minute session which also includes a 5-minute safety briefing and equipment fitting.

Outdoor
If you are looking for something to do that is outside then here are a couple of suggestions.
Hamerton Zoo – During lockdown, there has been a lot of babies being born at Hamerton Zoo from an alpaca to a ring-tailed lemur to the smaller zebra finches and Fat Sand Rats. Now the weather isn’t as hot it is the perfect time to visit and see if you can spot any of the newest additions. Tickets need to be booked in advanced and you can book an arrival time slot 10-11.15, 11.30-12.45 and then 2pm+

Sacrewell –We have been to Sacrewell a few times over the summer and it is always lots of fun. The boys have really loved being back in the Playbarn which re-opened a week ago. The outdoor play area is being revamped over the next couple of weeks and come October half term there will be a whole new area to explore.

Gifted | Spending the morning at Sacrewell Farm – What can you expect?
Hinchingbrooke Country Park – Just 30 minutes away from Peterborough is Hinchingbrooke Country Park. The address is Hinchingbrooke Country Park, Brampton Road, Huntingdon, Cambs, PE29 6DB. With the facilities open such as toilets and the cafe it makes a wonderful change of scenery.
Entrance to Hinchingbrooke Country Park remains free however there is a charge to car parking. Charges are £1 for up to 2 hours and £2 for up to 6 hours.
What to see – There are Apiary which have been purpose-built and are cared for by Huntingdon Beekeepers Association. As well as walks around a couple of lakes, a campsite, play area and fitness area.
Garden of Surprises @Burghley House – Although there is limited access to certain areas and the water features are no longer open for contact. Garden of Surprises is still worth a visit. Especially when your garden ticket is upgraded as an annual pass! So you can come back and forth as often as you like for an entire year.
The gardens are open daily with 2 available time slots. 10.30 to 1pm and another 2pm to 4.30pm. Prices are

Orienteering @ Nene Park – You can pick up a couple of Orienteering leaflets from the visitors centre. They are completely free of charge and will take you around Nene Park. There are 2 courses; Short One which is approximately 1.8miles (2.9KM) and a longer one which is 6 miles (9.5km).
Theme Parks
Wicksteed Park – Currently only the grounds and playpark are open along with a cafe and toilets. The Rides are currently not operational. There are no entry costs. Read our review here (pre-covid)
Twinlakes – Pre-booking is essential, no walk-ins are allowed – Adult £18.36, Child 108cm + £18.36, Toddler 95cm – 108cm £15.16- Currently closed – Bucs indoors building, Waterpark & Bouncing Pillows.
Billing Aquadrome – Currently closed – The park has lots to offer a great day out. At Billing Aquadrome our standard entry fee is £5 per car during off peak times including non event weekends. It is £10 per car during events unless otherwise stated. Billing Aquadrome will charge £5 entry per person for individuals without a vehicle.
Gullivers Kingdom – 10.30-5pm – Booking is essential – Adult £19, Child £19, Under 90cm free – Staggered start times and face coverings essential whilst on rides, You’ll not need to wear a face covering when walking around the park provided you are maintaining a safe distance from other families. Toy Town, witches cauldron and the little houses in Smugglers cove will be closed. The Buck and Duke show and our characters and not able to open or meet guests at this time to stop large groups forming
