Take part in Nene Parks Six Weeks of Summer event – Every Saturday a new clue is released on Nene Park’s website and social media. These will range from puzzles, riddles or picture clues which will lead you to a landmark within the park. To have a chance of winning register your details on the the online booking system.
Take in a movie at The New Theatre – This weekends film choices are Lego Movie, Dr Dolittle, Incredibles 2 and Judy.
Have a bounce at Inflata Nation or Boundless Fun! – although I still think it is a little early to be visiting indoor play places, both Inflata Nation, (Peterborough One Retail Park) and Boundless Fun (Orton Southgate) are both open.
Visit Railworld Wildlife Haven – Have a read of our review here – If you love trains, love wildlife and want to help support a local charity ran entirely by volunteers than Railworld is your place!
Feed the ducks at Rutland Water – Car park charges from £1.70 for an hour up to £8 for over 5 hours. Toilets open at the weekend, Water sports Open, Mini Golf Open, visitor Centre open, Nature reserve and bird hides open. Children’s playgrounds and sand pits are also open. Set around beautiful Rutland Water and covering 4,200 acres of open countryside, the park offers everything from walking and cycling to fishing and water sports.
Try Wakeboarding at Peterborough WakePark – Based at Hampton Water, Peterborough Wakepark is back open with kit rentals. Beginner lessons start at £25 for 15 minutes, includes coaching and all rental gear included.
Have a play at Stanwick Lakes – Parking starts at £3.80 for 2 hours – Toilet facilities are open, and the playarea is open except for the waterplay. There is an outdoor kiosk serving refreshments!
Take a stroll through Thorpe Wood Woodland! – FREE – How to get there – From junction 17 on A1(M) take A1139 east to Peterborough. Take third exit on to A1260 north. Take second exit, then go left at roundabout following the brown Thorpe Wood sign. Follow Thorpe Wood turning right in to Thorpe Road just after police station. Cross over main road then take first right into Holywell Way. Entrance to reserve car park is on right.

Visit Knebworth Gardens – Booking essential – Prices start at £10 – It is a fantastic value day out – families can enjoy a day in the Park which is excellent for games and picnics, the 28 acres of Formal Gardens, the exciting Adventure Playground with Fort Knebworth, and the Trail of 72 life-sized Dinosaurs.
