Wedding Anniversary – Celebrating 11 years together

     The Mum Diaries      1 Comment

No one would have guessed that years later Mark and I would be celebrating our 11 year wedding anniversary! Our romance was such a whirlwind in the beginning and it all happened so incredibly fast. I wouldn’t have anything different now but boy, we didn’t wait around for anything.

Our crazy quick love story

Mark and I met not long after I turned 18 at a local pub. He was there with a friend and I was waiting for my best friend to finish her shift. For some alcoholic reason I walked up to them both to ask if they had a spare roll up (such a loser looking back! he should have ran!). We all got talking and then realised that the person Mark was with used to be friends with my sister. Before we knew it, it was closing time and Mark did the gently thing of walking me home. I could go through the whole soppy early days, but the short story is, he never left!

The day after we met, he met my mum, my brother, his wife at the time, my younger brother. Later the same day, I believe the rest of my family turned up. We moved very quickly and it wasn’t long before he moved in with us, and then not long after that he proposed. Together, we planned and booked a date for our wedding 22nd August 2009. For us, we didn’t care where we married, we just wanted to be.

National Boyfriend Day

It was a few months after we met, and celebrating our first Christmas, I took a pregnancy test which was positive. After our first scan and realising the due date was 7/8/09 we both decided to bring the wedding forward. The registrar called us a couple of weeks later and told us there was a cancellation and she could wed us in 5 weeks. So that’s what we did. Less than a year of meeting we were married and I was already pregnant.

It’s crazy to think how quickly the years have flown by and it is something we wouldn’t change. 11 years, 3 children, 2 house moves and 4 cars! Here is to another 11 and hopefully more!

However, we need some more meal ideas to try and change things up. Do you have any suggestions?
