Meal Plan | This week the boys are making our dinners

     The Mum Diaries      7 Comments

If you are looking for ideas on what to eat then look no further. Although to be honest our meals are pretty simple and boring. However with 3 fussy children it is what it is. I do try to change things up and introduce new meals (like I have this week) but sometimes it doesn’t go to plan. Since the boys have been off school I have been trying to get them to do more things around the house. You know, teaching them “life skills”. So this week, the boys are making dinner, every single night.

This weeks meal plan

The boys have been really getting into helping me in the kitchen. So I am planning on making the most of it this week. We are going to start with Homemade Chicken Nuggets. It is really easy to make and they taste delicious!!
We haven’t had Sticky Chicken and Rice for so long. Again it is really simple to make and I am pretty sure the boys will enjoy helping me this time.
Another favourite of ours is Salad Boats. It is a great way to get all the veg into the boys.
7 bowls of prepared salad vegetables surrounding a plate in the middle with Old El Paso Tortilla boats.
Jack has asked for Toad in the hole which surprises me somewhat. We tend to serve ours with buttered potatoes and a helping of veg. We haven’t tried buttered potatoes since Arthur started eating potato. So I am really hoping he enjoys it.
It really looks like this week is sponsored by Chicken, we are having alot of it. However it is the only meat that all the boys will very happily eat. Chicken and Pasta Bake is something we haven’t had before. I can’t see why they won’t, it has everything that they enjoy.
It wouldn’t be Sunday without our usual Chicken Roast Dinner. It really is a staple of our weeks and to be honest it is something that Mark and I enjoy cooking together. As the boys are going to be making all our meals this week, they are going to take over and cook the roast dinner.

My lot love their chicken too, the Little Man would eat chicken wraps every single day if I let him. Thankfully, they do like their vegetables and salad too. I like the idea of the salad boats, it reminds me of the salad bar when we go to Pizza Hut for my daughter’s birthday (it’s a birthday treat she’s had for 7 years now, but it costs us a bomb so it’s definitely only once a year!)

I want to eat round your house – I’d eat chicken daily if I could, but the OH moans if we have it too much.

I have never made home made chicken nuggets, and really should because it looks easy and probably much more tasty than bought ones. We are also fans of toad in the hole!

However, we need some more meal ideas to try and change things up. Do you have any suggestions?
