Wally The Washer Review- Family Games – The Mum Diaries

     The Mum Diaries      38 Comments

As a family we try to spend as much time “tech free” as we can! We can appreciate how important it is for the boys to be able to wind down and spend time as a family. We have recently been sent out a couple of games from Drumond Park and the first one is Wally The Washer.

Wally the Washer

Within the box you receive

  • Wally The Washer – Needs 3xAA batteries
  • 4 clothes lines each with 2 stands in Red, Blue, Green and Yellow
  • 20 items of clothing 5xred, 5xblue, 5xgreen, 5xyellow
  • 1 dirty sock
  • 1 Giant yellow peg

The game is really simple, be the first to hang your clothes!

How to play

Wally the washer

Before you begin, make sure all the pieces are inside Wally the Washer, including the dirty sock! Once the door is closed the Wally starts to washing. The youngest goes first to push down on the soap box which opens the doors, spilling out the clothes! When we played to make the games a little longer we decided only the player whos turn it was can collect their clothes. If it wasn’t your turn and you clothes spilled out the machine, you couldn’t collect. However the rules do state that each player collects their clothing and then the next player has their turn.

If when you open the door the dirty sock falls out, then your washing isn’t clean. All the clothes need to be put back into Wally the Washer and it is the next players turn. and if that wasn’t all, you also have to wear the giant yellow peg on your nose until the next player has the dirty sock. Poor Oliver and I seemed to be the only ones to get the dirty sock and within 1 game both wore the peg 3 times!!

Our thoughts

The game is super simple which makes it great for the boys ages. Arthur who is 4 picked up the rules super quick and really got into the excitement. The first game took less than 5 minutes to complete, hence trying to extend play by each player taking it in turns. However you could always do the best of three!

Wally The Washer is available to buy from Smyths and other toy retailers for £24.99.

However, we need some more meal ideas to try and change things up. Do you have any suggestions?
