My first time at Wagamama Peterborough with Mummy and Moose

     The Mum Diaries      7 Comments

My sister Tasha (Mummy & Moose) and I were invited to a our local Hotter store’s VIP event. After a very fun and exciting evening we then went off to Wagamama for something to eat. I had not been yet and it’s Tasha’s ultimate favourite place to eat.

Peterborough Wagamama

When we arrived we were greeted by a lovely lively waitress who offered us a seat. The Restaurant has a very modern minimalist feel with several rows of solid wooden tables and benches and a couple of booths. We were shown to the end seats of a long table. My sister asked if we could have a booth instead as you get a little more space. The waitress explained that they although one booth was free it was reserved but another booth had just paid so they were waiting for them to leave. We decided to order drinks whilst we waited more than happy to have the extra time.

Tasha was talking me through the menu which had a mixture of Japanese and Thai dishes. All of which looks great! My palate is what you would call unexperienced I tend to stick with what I know. Tasha talked me through a few of her favourites and it wasn’t long until we kind of knew what we wanted.

A few minutes later the waitress came back with drinks and apologised for the time it was taking the other party to leave the booth. Tasha and I were more than happy to stay. We were too busy talking about Hotter Shoes. A few minutes later the waitress came back and said they reserved table still had 45 minutes until it was needed so we could use that booth and she would arrange for another to be reserved.

Food!

Within a few minutes of sitting at the booth another waitress came and took our order. Tasha being the seasoned Wagamama customer she placed our order. We ordered Duck Wraps and Duck Gyoza’s. Chicken Teriyaki (with the Teriyaki sauce on the side) for me and Tasha ordered Chicken Katsu Curry with 2 green teas.

In what didn’t feel like long the Duck Gyoza’s arrived.

We were a little too keen and started to eat them before we took a photo. Blogger fail right there! Because it happened again! We really must try and remember to photo before we eat!

The Duck Gyoza were lovely! You get 5 and between 2 it wasn’t enough. I think Tasha would agree. The Duck Wraps come with cucumber and spring onions. With Asian pancakes cherry hoisin sauce!

Tasha’s dinner arrived first. The presentation was great! It looked like an octopus. It was breaded chicken cut into strips surrounding a body of rice with sauce over the top!

Not long after my Chicken Teriyaki arrived!

The chicken sat at the bottom of the bowl and placed under the rice. On top there is a mixture of grated carrot, pea shots and onions with a sprinkling of sesame seeds. I asked for the sauce to be separate as I wasn’t too sure if I would like it but I needn’t of worried! The food really tasted great and seemed nothing was too much trouble.

My overall experience

I really enjoyed my experience at Wagamama’s. The other customers all ranged in ages and literally everyone can be catered for. The food is all made fresh to order and you could tell that when it arrived. It wasn’t too badly priced either coming under £40 for 2xsides 2xmains and 2xdrinks. I am looking forward to returning and sampling something else from the menu!

Do you know I have never been to Wagamama’s maybe as I’ve been unsure what to expect, but by the sounds of this I would definitely like to try it.

Unfortunately there isn’t a Wagamama near me, but I have been a few times – I love their soups!

Wagamama’s is one of my favourite restaurants for quick, fresh, healthy eating and I am so glad you enjoyed it. Need to try those duck gyozas asap! I always eat things before photographing too – I get too excited!

However, we need some more meal ideas to try and change things up. Do you have any suggestions?
