We were asked by Canderel to taste test their sweetener. We were provided 2 recipes and the ingredients to be able to bake 2 batches of both of the recipes. Blueberry and Lemon Cheesecake and Raspberry and Vanilla Cupcakes.
Canderel Sweetener is a zero calorie sugar substitute. It looks like sugar, tastes like a sugar and it feels like sugar. With zero calories per 1/2 Teaspoon it is great to help aide a healthy lifestyle. With Canderel Sweetener you only need to use half of the sugar equivalent. For example if your recipe calls for 1 teaspoon of sugar, you only need to use half a teaspoon of sweetener.
The first recipe we made was the Blueberry and Lemon Cheesecake.
If you have read my previous posts you will know me and cheesecake just do not mix. I had tried to make a vanilla cheesecake and it would not set, so melted everywhere. I was really hesitant to give this ago in case I went wrong again. The recipe was followed, every last instruction. I used the Gelatine, I grated and squeezed the lemon, added the quark and of course the sweetener.
Everything was mixed in together. I poured the topping onto the biscuit base and left it to set for 24 hours.
Not only did I have 1 cheesecake to make, but 2. 24 hours later and
Raspberry and Vanilla cupcakes
In our house we love cakes, baking them and eating them. The boys love to all get involved and it turns into a lovely afternoon of baking. This time I wanted to see how well the boys could make cakes with little to no direction from me. So I prepared all the ingredients into individual bowls, so all they had to do was pour it in and whisk.
You can see from the photos and Videos the boys were great and only needed very little support.
Now the tasting!
The only difference we could taste was the sweetener didn’t seem to have the sweet aftertaste that sugar has. The boys couldn’t taste the difference at all, but they prefer sweetener on their Weetabix rather than sugar.
