If this lock down has taught me anything it is to shop local. When supermarkets were selling out of food and essentials, it was the small corner shops who’s stock remained pretty full. All over Facebook at the minute people who are self isolating, having to stay at home, are wanting deliveries of fresh food. Supermarket delivery slots seem to be like fairy dust and people just want access to simple produce such as fruit, vegetables and meat. So I thought I would share with you some companies that are currently offering deliveries in the Peterborough area.
Local Peterborough deliveries
I have shared posts from each of the companies from their Facebook page. Many are using Facebook to take orders. Make sure to check for any updates on deliveries and orders from the companies.
S.J.W Fruit and Veg Wholesalers – Steve who currently has a market stall on Laxton Square is offering deliveries of fruit and vegetables. To place an order simply send an email to steveweth@hotmail.co.uk
FAST Fruit and Veg Delivery – Are offering deliveries of ready made fruit and veg boxes
Fenland Fruit and Veg – Currently delivering ready made boxes to Peterborough, Whittlesey and March
Sub Xpress – Hampton – Currently offering fresh fruit, veg and weekly essentials boxes. Hampton and Yaxely address only at the moment.
Meat Delivery
Stilton Butchers – Delivering fresh meat nationwide, but is local family business. The meat is not Halal or Kosher.
Ammar Food Store & Halal Meat – Based in Lincoln Road, they can offer same day delivery of Halal Meat along with other food.
Woodland Butchers – Based within the food court of the market – Woodland Butchers are offering local deliveries. There is no mention if the meat is Halal or Kosher.
King Brothers – King Brothers is a local wholesalers based in Orton. They have opened their website to allow the public shop. They have fruit/veg and meat boxes available to buy as well as groceries and other food and drink/cleaning supplies.
Grocery Deliveries
EagleWay Food Store – Offering deliveries. There is a minimum £20 order and deliveries cost £2.50. Plenty of grocery food including Bulk bags of Atta and Rice. Along with fresh eggs, meat, fruits and vegetables. Meat is Halal.
Janson Hong –Oriental supermarket located in the centre of town. Now have an online shop and offering deliveries in the local area.
National Companies
I wanted to keep this post specifically to local businesses to help them during these testing times. However being a family on limited income, sometimes I have to shop around for the items that I need. I will always promote buying local before going national, however here are a few more companies that are not based locally but do deliver to your door.
Accent Fresh – Delivers to the whole of East Anglia. They have boxes ready made ranging from £20 to £50.
Muscle Food – Has a wide range of meats and veg. Often their are deals on too. There is no mention if the meat is Halal or Kosher.
Willowbrook Farm – Willowbrook Farm is based in Oxfordshire. They sell their meat nationwide. The animals are ethically reared and sustainable farmed. The meat is Halal.
