For the past couple of years as a family we have been trying to reduce our overall household waste. So I have been looking into how I can incorporate zero waste into other aspects of my life. With my mental health taking a bit of a hit recently I have been looking into self care and how to take more time for myself. So I wanted to share with you some zero waste self care tips.
Meditation
With most of our time being indoors meditation is a wonderful way to switch off and take note of your body. It is great to help focus and gives you motivation. There are plenty of free and paid for apps available through a range of different streaming services.
Walking
Spending just 30 minutes a day outside in the fresh air is beneficial not just for your body but for your mind too. Country parks are great for this as the environment and wildlife changes.
Friends
It is so difficult to meet up with our friends at the moment however I have been meeting up with a group of mums over on zoom throughout lockdown. It has worked wonders for my mental health and has cheered me up no end whenever I have felt down. Zoom is a video streaming service which gives users a free 40 minute session. You can restart each session though to give you longer.
Jigsaws
Having something to focus on can really help you to unwind after a tough day of home learning or working. With so many local facebook groups it can be really easy to organise and arrange jigsaw swaps once you have finished.
Sleep
A good nights sleep works wonders for your mental health and self care. Giving your body the opportunity to rest and recover can help you to improve concentration and productivity.
