Week 1 – New Year Meal plan! – what we are going to be eating

With it being a new year I thought I would take the opportunity to kick start my weekly meal plans! It not only helps to keep my food costs down but also stops us from resorting to take aways and convenient foods. One of my personal goals this year is to start saving and over Christmas our food budget went out of control which doesn’t help! My meal plan starts on a Sunday (so this one started 29th January) as it helps when I go shopping later in the week.

Sunday –

Pork loin Steaks, buttered potatoes and vegetables. – One of our favourite meals and although Arthur is really fussy I know he will eat the pork steaks.

Monday –

Spaghetti Bolognaise and Garlic Bread – Firm family favourite and a guaranteed clean plate!

Tuesday (New Years)

Roast Chicken, Pigs in blankets, stuffing balls, chipolata and Yorkshire pudding – I was always told to make sure the first main meal you eat on New Years Day is one that is filling. So every year we have another roast dinner which mimics Christmas Dinner. We use the left over crackers so we don’t have to store them!

Wednesday –

Tuna/Hot Dog pasta bake! – Jack recently mentioned he liked Tuna Pasta Bake so I grabbed the opportunity to make it, it is one of my favourite meals. Mark and the other 2 are never that keen so we don’t get to have it often. However last time we had this Oliver tried it and really liked it. I will make Mark and Arthur Pasta and Hot Dogs whilst we have Tuna Pasta Bake.

Thursday –

Toad in the hole – The boys like sausages, they also like Yorkshire puddings. They don’t like Toad in the hole, why? I end up separating it all for them to eat.

Friday –

Meatballs with either Spaghetti or chips – Depending on what sort of mood the boys and Mark will be in will decide whether we have spaghetti or chips. We tend to squash the meatballs down a little to make mini burgers. It is a pretty quick meal which won’t need much prep.

Saturday –

Nugget, Salad and Chips in Tortilla Boats – The boys love the Old el Paso Boats and with Chicken Nuggets and salad it is rather filling too! The boys love their salad and it is one of their favourite meals too!!

So there you have my weeks meal plan!

Wow! Kids that love salad. I’m impressed!!!
My kids didn’t like road in the hole when I made it. The “pastry” was soggy. No, my batter didn’t rise!
I love the idea of other things in tortilla boats. I’d never had them with anything other than Tex Mex food.
