How are we half way through February already? This week is half term and as the boys are not going to school it does affect our food budget. They do tend to snack more throughout the morning and afternoon and we have a biggish dinner early evening. Last week’s meal plan was a raving success and they really seemed to enjoy it. So I am definitely saving it to reuse in a few weeks time. Mark and I were also consistent in making sure we had what was on the plan and we didn’t deviate to what was already in the fridge/freezer.
This week Mark is off isolating thanks to being picked up as a contact through the NHS Track and Trace app. So not only do I have the 3 boys home all week, Mark is too. So this week’s meal plan features Mark’s Fish Cakes!
This week’s meal plan
Monday – Afternoon Tea
Tuesday – Homemade Chicken Nuggets
Wednesday – Fish cakes
Thursday – Cottage Pie
Friday – Toad in the Hole
Saturday – Takeaway
Sunday – Roast Beef dinner
Shopping List
I haven’t been adding a full shopping list here to everything we eat as I tend to keep breakfast/lunches separately and only share our main evening meal. However I have been thinking about whether to include everything, if this is something you would like to read then let me know.
This week’s shopping list is compiled using Tesco Grocery, I don’t always choose the cheapest items and I list the full price and not offer prices. I also have cupboard staples such as flour etc, for Yorkshire puddings etc.
White Cabbage – 45p
Broccoli – 50p
Medium Beef Roasting Joint – 1kg – £12
Tesco Potatoes x2 – 2.5kg – £1.15 = £2.30
Aberdeen Angus Steak Mince 500g – £4
Cod Fillets 360g – £3.30
British Cumberland Pork Sausages 667g – £4
Little Gem Lettuce – 85p
Cucumber x2 – 43p = 86p
Baby Plum tomatoes – 65p
Red Peppers x3 – 45p each – £1.35
Baby Button Mushrooms – 95p
Sugar Snap Peas – £1
Baked Beans x3 – 30p each – £1.20
Diced Chicken – £3

This year is flying over. I am so glad it’s half term to get a break from the home learning.
I hope everything goes OK with Mark isolating and he shows no symptoms.
