Discover new art forms, explore different materials and have fun being creative in this full day workshop. We will draw print and build to make wonderful things to take home.

Discover Arts Award:
We are offering young artists the opportunity to achieve their Discover Arts Award during this workshop. Children will find out about other artists and get creative making their work and share their experiences with others, gaining a certificate at the end. The award is a fantastic introduction to the Arts Award – an alternative qualification, which allows young people to learn about the arts outside of the school setting. (Moderation costs for the award are an additional £5 to the workshop.) To read more about it click here.

Create a 3D wonderland for your favourite toy: a palace for a princess, a fortress for a knight or a cave for a monster. Make up stories for your characters own miniature world! Bring a little toy character no bigger than 10cm tall.

10am – Limited to 12 adults and their children, book a place via their Facebook page, With all things child-led, the session ends when it feels right to head home, individuals and smaller groups leave when they are ready, and in the past we have stayed in the woods until 4pm in the summer time. It really depends on everyone’s energy levels, weather and mood that day. What to bring – Your own packed lunch for you and your child/ren, a cup for tea (provided), a picnic blanket and wet weather/suitable outdoor clothing. BabyCafe Big Latch On @ Ferry Meadows next to the visitor centre –
 Join the NCT. The Big Latch On takes place at locations around the world, where women gather together to breastfeed and offer peer support to each other. Their friends, family and community join this celebration to promote and support breastfeeding.

Kid Tree Climbing @ Ferry Meadows 11.00-15.00- Kids come and have a try and tree climbing using a harness and rope. Rangers will be on hand to supervise and offer advice. Meet at Visitor Centre. This event may not be suitable for all abilities.

Get inspired by the wonderful world of Roald Dahl in this fun filled workshop bursting at the brim with creativity. Re-create your favourite characters, make up some of your own and let your imagination run riot with tales of adventurous children, fantastic foxes and marvellous medicines. Each child will go home with their own handmade souvenir.

Crazy creatures – Animal handling with lion learners –
Meet the Animals!
Have you ever wanted to introduce children to the characters in books for real? Well this is your chance.
Listen to a story or two, and then afterwards there will be a meet the animal session. Children get the chance to hold the animal featured in the book and ask questions. A wide range of animals will be coming along!
Lion Learners presenters are highly trained with a range of animal, environmental and teaching qualifications.
£3 per child, accompanied by an adult

Knights and Princesses @ Longthorpe Tower 10-5pm( last admission 4pm)
Ever wanted to be a knight in shining armour? Or perhaps a princess in a wonderful gown? Now’s your chance to learn how!
Longthorpe Tower will be populated by medieval characters, to bring the building to life for the whole family to enjoy!
There will be ‘How to be a Princess’ sessions and How to be a knight’ sessions daily (check back here for times!), where prospective princesses and knights of all ages can learn their trades.

Visitors can find out what the lord of the manor is having for dinner, learn to write with a quill with a monk from the abbey or see the Barber Surgeon for a cure, all surrounded by the country’s most spectacular medieval wall paintings.
There’s no need to book for this event, just drop in.

A wonderful family friendly weekend which blends the magical and the natural. Come and be bewitched by storytellers, enchanted by Fairies and captivated by the wonders of nature.
