The feeling you have when you start becoming excited over household items is now the same excitement I have when I receive gifts. It has only been since I moved out of my mums and into my own house that I have even been excited. The first time was when I brought brand new saucepans. Actual saucepans! It felt like Christmas. But my excitement now is my new spray mop. More specifically WizMops.
When Mark and I first moved in together we used the standard Mop and Bucket and it was fine. Jack came along and he learnt to crawl and walk and all of a sudden we were having to continually move the bucket from his grasp. Our house was tiddly with barely any storage and eventually, we brought our first steam mop. We loved it. No more buckets, no more soaking wet flooring. Just the ease of plugging it in and waiting a few seconds and then off we go!
Unfortunately, the mop died a sad untimely death when we moved 2 years ago. Our new mop just did not seem to cut it. There was no trigger to help remove those more stubborn marks and it took awhile to heat through. Mark hated using it and to be honest we were even contemplating a mop and bucket now the boys are older. But then I was contacted by WizMops to see if I wouldn’t mind reviewing their spray mop. What was there to lose? I hate my mop anyway and if it meant I didn’t have to use a mop and bucket I would try anything.
So what sets WizMops apart from most others? WizMops uses no electricity and a spray trigger system to wash the floors. Clever really in that the simple design means it is all self-contained too, no wires! When you buy the spray mop there is some assembly (if you can call it that). Simply click the poles together and jobs a good’en.
The bottle holder has a lock to help keep it in place and to prevent it from falling. You can also use any detergent or disinfectant in the 600ml bottle too! I use a couple of drops of Lemon&Tea Tree essential oils in my water for my cleaning.
With the spray mop, you also receive 2 microfiber cleaning pads which are easy to attach and detach from the mop head. They can also be either hand-washed or machine washed too! Along with the microfiber cleaning pads, you also receive another attachment to clean windows and glass. It has a microfiber pad and window squeegee attached in one. If you are not happy then they also offer 100% Money-Back Guarantee too. But less about the technicalities…
Using the mop
On very first impressions I noticed how light it was. It did not feel like you were pushing a mop around. The microfiber clothes glide over the laminate really well. I found spraying whilst I was mopping worked well and you could also angle the direction of the spray by moving the handle. For example, if you had a particularly tough little spot to clean holding the mop upright and squirting would mean the cleaning water could target the spot a little more efficiently than the more relaxed method.
I was convert after the first use. I found it so much better than the steam mop and much easier to navigate around furniture. But the test was Mark and how he would get on with it. When he came home from work I asked if he wouldn’t mind giving it ago. A little apprehensive he soon perked up when I told him it had a trigger! (Men and triggers!) and he decided to give it ago. He was like me and pretty much instantly became converted. Compared to our more expensive steam mop it just did a much better job! He also noticed how light it was and how it glided across the floorboards.
The 600ml water bottle was more than enough for what we need. In fact, in future, we would only need to fill it up about half way and that would be more than enough for several cleans. I did find when using it on the windows the fuller the water bottle the better. I really do rate the mop and family who have visited since we received it have all had a go too! For a retail price of £29.95, it is worth all of that in my books!
