Oliver has this fascination with Penguins. He absolutely adores them. So when Ravensburger got in touch and asked if we would like to review Penguin Pile-up I said yes! Knowing full well that Oliver would absolutely LOVE it! The game can be played on your own or with up to 6 players. As a family of 5, it is great finding a game we can all play without having to join up with somebody else. The box states it is for players aged 5 years and above but Arthur (3) loved it just as much as Oliver.
1x Base and iceberg
1x Cardboard Ring
24x Penguin figures (in 3 separate bags, Self-assembly needed)
Setting the game
Setting up is pretty simple the iceberg sits on top of the base. The penguins are a little more fiddly as you have to build all 24, but the boys got involved and it didn’t take long at all. For more stability, you can use the cardboard ring to place the base on. This is great for younger players.
Playing the game
The 24 penguins are all divided equally to the playing players, Everyone then takes it in turns to place their penguin onto the iceberg. If your penguin was to fall and knock other penguins down along with it then you take all the fallen penguins. Be prepared for lots of laughs! as the boys found it hilarious! All 3 boys really enjoyed playing the game and I can see it being played with again and again.
As it is quick and easy to set up it is a game the boys can play on their own. The Penguin Pile-up instructions are really easy to learn and follow too and everyone (even Arthur) understood and played by them.
