We’re going on a bug hunt – Bug Safari Review

Oliver has always been our little explorer. He isn’t afraid to get down and dirty to find his favourite creature. Which just so happens to be Woodlice. We were asked if we would like to review the Bug Safari kit and Oliver jumped at the chance to be able to give it ago.

What is included in the Bug Safari kit.

Within the box you get pretty much everything you need to go on a bug safari hunt.

Bug Safari Kit - What's included

The tools included are

  • The Booklet contains information on common insects found in the garden. There is a handy checklist too so you can mark off each insect as you come across them.  On the back is handy size chart which can be used to measure the bugs you find.
  • The Bug Tongs are the bug hunter’s favourite tool. They are ideal for catching bugs if you don’t want to get too close.
  • Magnifying Pot – Your going to need somewhere to safely put the bugs so you can inspect them. The Magnifying pot is a must have for any bug hunter. Carefully designed to allow the bugs to stay in the “corners” so you can observe them.
  • Other must haves for intrepid explorers is the field magnifying glass, which allows you to look closely at the bugs without getting to close. Paintbrush – Small bugs are really fragile and touching them may harm them. The paintbrush allows for the bug hunter to gently sweep the bugs into the magnifying pot. Tweezers – are to be used on your larger bugs to gently place them into the magnifying pot.

Going on a bug safari

Some say we are fortunate we have no grass, but on safari’s like this one we wish we did. We have come to know the parts of our garden which see’s the most bugs. The boys had great fun in exploring the different areas of the garden finding the bugs.

Jack found the facts in the booklet fascinating!

What we thought

The Bug Safari kit retails at £12.99 for what is included it is bargain! The kit is easily transported so your not just kept to the garden. Oliver is really looking forward to taking it with us to our local nature reserve when it gets a little warmer. It is great value for money for what is literally hours and hours of play.

That Kit looks great! I’d definitely need to use the bug tongs though. I’ll be keeping this in mind for when my son gets a little older. He loves the outdoors.

This looks so much fun, although my Archie wouldn’t go for it! His Autism means he’s got a lot of sensory issues, but I bet my nephew would love it
