As a #Qblogger I was recently invited to John Lewis in Queensgate to have a look at their spring/summer 2018 range of men and womenswear. For me John Lewis wasn’t my first thought for clothing so I was excited to see their range. Caroline met us at reception and took us to one of the rooms on the top floor (very snazzy!). Inside we were introduced to Alison and Ian.
Both Alison and Ian are personal shoppers and between them, they have many years experience in dressing customers and choosing clothing which fits and looks fab. During the evening Alison described a little more about their role and what John Lewis offers.
John Lewis offers a completely FREE personal shopping service for both men and women. If you need to dress for any occasion; wedding, holiday or even day to day clothing they can help. These folks know they’re stuff and because of that, they have a pretty great success rate too. There is no obligation to buy any of the clothing either.
Another pretty great thing about this service is they can help complete an outfit. More often than not we buy impulse buys. We all have them, you know the item you buy as it’s on sale but you have nothing to wear it with. It could be a skirt, top or jacket. If you bring the item in with you to your appointment then the wonderful shoppers are able to find clothing which will match.
After speaking with Alison and Tasha (from Mummy and Moose) we decided we were going to come back in a few weeks for a personal shopper experience. Both of us are plus size but have completely different body shapes and dithering views on clothing. I can’t wait to see what happens!
The Spring Summer Range
This year the trends seem to be all about the metallics, print and bold, bright colours. The selection of clothes that Alison had brought with her showed a variety of different outfits for different occasions.
Here are a few of my favourite womenswear
Ian didn’t disappoint either with the selection he had chosen to show the men’s wear. There was a lovely array of suits from formal to casual and jeans, tops and jackets. This year Chino’s seems to have been included in the formal suit section. Ian explained that it was the first time that had happened too.
Ian also had a couple of tips for men –
The darker the colour of jeans the smarter the look of the outfit.
By choosing a belt the same colour as the shoes can really make an outfit.
My favourite men’s items
During the evening Alison shared her top 5 wardrobe basics. Items that everyone should have in their wardrobe.
Alison’s top 5 Wardrobe basics
- Little Black Dress
- Animal Print Scarf
- Oversized watch
- Red Flat Shoes
Along with the clothing, there was an array of accessories from footwear, bags to scarves. I absolutely love the yellow bag and the scarf makes a great combination.
With deliveries coming in daily the Spring Summer collection is only set to grow! So make sure to pop in and why not try the personal shopping service.
