Great grandad with Arthur and Moose – #MySundayPhoto

I really enjoyed linking up with #MySundayphoto last week.

This week my photo is one of Arthur, Moose (his cousin) and their great granddad. Although he is not blood related he is as close as he will ever be! I’ll be the first to admit I don’t spend the amount of time I should with him. I am really lucky he is still with us and is able to see the kids grow. My nan (his wife) passed away 7 years ago and he has lived alone since. I suppose luckily he lives in a flat which is part of a complex so there are others around him. My nan and him moved there together and really loved being there making friends. When my nan passed away he had friends who were able to check in on him to see if he was okay.

He has Parkinson’s and over the years it has got progressively worse. In the past couple of months he gave up his driver license which was his lifeline to the outside world. He is such a proud man and always helping others with driving them to the shops or appointments. So for him to give up his licence that was a big deal! It meant he has become reliant on other people. My sister Tasha (Mummy&Moose) and I decided we were going to try and make time to see him at least fortnightly. The boys love spending time together and so do we. So on Wednesday we went to see him and brought him some chips and it was really lovely to have that time together. We were there for a couple of hours but it was long enough for him without tiring him out.

This photo has fast become one of my favourites! The first of many to come…
