Last year the boys and I sat down and worked out what we wanted to do over the summer. So we compiled our first summer holiday bucket list. We had so much fun ticking each item off one by one. This year we decided to do another, although we are sticking to 25 rather than 50!
Summer holiday bucket list
- Have a birthday party for Jack – Jack has requested a birthday party this year. As his birthday falls end of August parties are somewhat harder to organise.
- Visit Belton House, National Trust – The boys loved it when we first came to Belton House. They’re outdoor area is amazing! certainly managed to spend a good few hours there. We are planning on taking a picnic and going to make the most of our day.
- Visit Lyveden New Bield – This is another national trust property that is local to us but we haven’t made our first visit yet. I have no idea what it is like but as we have a membership it’s worth a look.
- Ride the train at Ferry Meadows – Ferry Meadows is right on our door step, we visit every opportunity we get but the train ride isn’t something we do. When you have 3+ children it can get rather expensive but as a little treat, I can’t wait to take the boys.
- Eat Ice-cream from the Ice cream van – Again, the more children you have the more expensive the simple things are.
- Take a stroll in the evening – The boys love a late night stroll!
- Have a picnic at Ferry Meadows
- Visit Peterborough Museum
- Take part and COMPLETE summer reading challenge – Every year the libraries host a summer reading challenge. This year is no different.
- Go on a family bike ride
- Have a sleepover with friends
- Visit 5 different local parks – We are very lucky to have lots of little parks around. So our plan is to visit at least 5! hopefully we can make that more.
- Ride the bus into town
- Visit Big sky
- Go to Bounce
- Have tea and cake at Becket’s Tearoom
- Have a tea party – where you have to hold your pinkie out ( Arthur’s request)
- Go Camping! – Thankfully we have 2 camping trips booked for the summer!
- Stay up till 1am! (or at least midnight)
- Visit Bretton waterpark
- Go central park
- Go swimming
- Nature afternoon
- Have playdates with friends
- Learn a new skill
