1/52 – Living Arrows – Hello 2019

Just like last year, I am starting the year off with great intentions. Like last year I have decided to take part in What The Redhead Said’s weekly post – Living Arrows. I really hope to continue this all year and use it as a way of looking back on what we got up to over the year.

Living arrows is all about celebrating childhood. With that in mind each week I will share a couple of photos and a little about what we have been up too!

oliver has had a very busy week when it comes to his teeth! It was 3 years ago on the 4th January since he had a tooth extraction under general anaesthetic thanks to trauma. he has been asking weekly since when his tooth was going to grow back and each time we told him when it is ready. Over the past 6 months more and more of his friends are losing teeth and despite already having one tooth taken out he has felt a bit left out. That all changed this week when in the space of a couple of days he has lost 2 teeth! Both of which are his bottom 2.

I love how excited he is for school. Out of all the boys, he was the one who was up and ready on the first day back. When I picked him up after school he came out smiling eager to tell me about his day. He loves reading his books, and he practices his phonics multiple times a day.

This week I took a big leap when it comes to trusting him and I let him walk to school on his own. well, technically he wasn’t alone, he was with his friend. However, there were no adults and we waved them off and that was that. Jack goes into year 6 next year and as there is a route to school which doesn’t involve roads I think it is about time he built his confidence to go alone. I needn’t have worried though, he loved it!

My eldest is in Year 4 and he’s already asked when he can walk to school by himself! I think Year 5/6 is a good starting point. They have to start gaining independence and confidence for secondary school don’t they? Even if we aren’t ready for it to happen! #LivingArrows
