I love Christmas morning. The boys wake us up early excited about having found their stockings and after we open the contents of those we all go downstairs to see what Father Christmas has left under the tree. Once their gifts have been opened I leave them to play while I go and begin preparing our Christmas dinner. It is at this time that I am reminded of a pet hate.
Is there anything worse than being stuck in the kitchen on Christmas? Hearing the sound of the children playing but not being able to stop preparing dinner because of a lack of time. This year I have a few tricks up my sleeve. I refuse to leave it all until the day and with the help of a PANASONIC MICROWAVE OVEN, it should be a cinch!
Of course, we all love the traditionally roasted meat but you could easily cook this a day ahead. Carve it and transfer to a dish with gravy, it would be ready to reheat easily. It would definitely be lovely and moist because, well, gravy!
It would not be difficult to make your mashed potatoes in advance and reheat in your microwave. I love to add cream and butter to make it taste really indulgent.
You can even do stuffing in the microwave! I like to put a little effort in at Christmas and make my own but it’s absolutely fine to use a box mix instead – just don’t add sausage meat unless cooking in the oven.
Okay so I know that some people don’t like them but it’s CHRISTMAS! Boil your sprouts for a few minutes, drain and transfer to a dish. Add a little butter and some thyme on Christmas eve and then all they need on the big day is 3 minutes in the microwave
