Let’s celebrate National Badger Day – The Mum Diaries

Although Badgers are one of Britain’s oldest native species I don’t think I have ever seen one. They look really adorable though! To help celebrate National Badger Day I thought I would learn more about badgers. Then share some facts with you, so you can learn more about them too!

Some facts about the Badger

  • Badgers are one of the Uk’s most recognised mammal! It is often referred as a living symbol of the British Countryside.
  • A Badgers Sett (their underground home) can often be more than 50 metres long. Which is about as tall as The Arc de Triomphe (49 metres), or Nelson’s Column. (51.64metres)
  • Badgers can eat over 200 earthworms in a single night!
  • Badgers and their setts are protected by law. It is against the law to dig for a badger, disturb badgers when they are occupying a sett, wilfully kill, injure or take badgers. As well as intentionally or recklessly damage or destroy a badger sett or obstructing access to one.
