Day 3 of #Blogtober and today we are celebrating National Boyfriend Day. I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to share how Mark and I first met.
When there was 2…
Mark and I met at our local pub in July 2008. My best friend got a job behind the bar and I used to meet up with her to help her shifts go a little quicker. It was such a lovely atmosphere that it didn’t take long to meet other locals and we were soon visiting the pub on her days off. One day Mark and his friend were outside and as I was waiting for my friend to come on her break I went outside too. She took a lot longer than I first thought and asked Mark for a lighter.
We soon got chatting and as we all stayed till closing he walked me home. He stayed over the night and we spent the entire night talking, we quickly realised it was morning and came downstairs. Unfortunately for Mark my entire family were in the living room, it was an awkward meet for sure! And to be honest that was that! He was either sleeping at mine or I was sleeping at his.
And then there was 3…
We went on our first camping trip in the September and by the October he proposed! It was all very whirlwind, we were both happy and in love and after a visit to the Registry Office we booked a date Saturday 22nd August 2009. Just before Christmas I found out I was pregnant! It was such a huge shock to us both and we were happy about the news. We soon realised that our due date would clash with the wedding we booked as Bitsy (our bump name) was due 07/08/2009. 15 days before our wedding. I didn’t like the idea of a baby being born out of wed-lock, I don’t know why, but it was always something I knew I didn’t want. So we rang the registry office and asked if we could be considered for any cancelled dates.
In February we said goodbye to our mum’s and we moved into our first home. It was a gorgeous 2 bedroom house in a lovely area. It was the first time we were on our own and although we loved the freedom it was pretty daunting. Remembering bills, shopping, cleaning, working and everything else 18 year olds and 21 year olds wanted to do. We soon got ourselves into a routine and we settled in lovely!
End of March we received a call to let us know there was a date available. It was 6 weeks away on 2nd May 2009 so we took it! Up until this point we hadn’t prepared anything for the wedding other than the date. With moving into our first home and the baby due in August our money went on baby things. I was thankful that neither of us wanted a really big do and was happy with the registry office we booked. It meant we didn’t need to spend a great deal! With a £500 budget for everything we managed to have a pretty awesome wedding and we tied the knot!
And now there are 5!!
9 years later and 2 more children and another house move we are still together and still very much in love!
