Who is The Mum Diaries

It has been such a long time since I last did a Q&A. Sometimes it’s because I don’t think there isn’t anything particular about my life which I think others would find interesting, strange a blogger saying that. But, the thing is, I am average and I like that. So, big thank you to Sally from Who’s The Mummy for the tag. So, here is me the person behind The Mum Diaries

When was the last time you cried?

Last Monday, I remember it because I was sitting down to watch Call The Midwife on catch up.

If you were another person, would you be a friend of yourself?

Probably, I don’t think I hold qualities people want in a friend but I am there, albeit on the end of a phone. I struggle to maintain friendships and I always see the worse in people before I see the better.

Do you use sarcasm a lot?

What’s the first thing you notice about people?

Their eyes, I think they can tell a lot about a person.

Scary movie or happy ending?

Both! Why can’t scary movies have a happy ending! ‘Yay for not being killed!’

Favourite smells?

I love the smell of freshly baked bread. I also really love Bergamot, when I was a LUSH temp I learned all about the different smells they add to their products. Bergamot was and is my all time favourite smell ooh, but I just thought, Palma Violets! Another smell I really love.

What’s the furthest you’ve ever been from home?

I went to Florida when I was younger so that would be the furthest. I would love to take the boys on holiday and explore the world. I always thought the UK was huge, but it isn’t we are a small dot in an all mighty big world!

Do you have any special talents?

No, I am what others call dull and boring. I am however okay with that, who want’s to be special anyways?

Where were you born?

I was born, raised and still live in Peterborough. I haven’t lived anywhere else and other than house prices I won’t be. Peterborough is such a fabulous city and an up and coming one too! We are less than an hour from London and have great road and rail networks! You can read more about Peterborough here.

What are your hobbies?

Again I am pretty much dull and boring in the hobby compartment too. I suppose you could say my blog is my hobby, but now being registered as self-employed it’s more my job. I enjoy reading but I never have the time anymore. One thing I have learnt from doing this, is I need to think more about me and start finding what I love more.

What did you want to be when you grew up?

Growing up I always wanted to be a mummy and/or work with children. I am a qualified Nursery Nurse but gave it up to become a stay at home mum. I have been thinking about the future and I was thinking of becoming a Health Visitor but it means training as a nurse and I have no desire to do that.

How many countries have you been to?

3! America, Scotland and Wales. Pretty boring eh?

what was your favourite/worst subject at school?

Well, when I was at school I loved PE, but that was because I was excused from doing it so I had an hour to do nothing! I often snuck off to have a cigarette and tried getting back before I was caught. The worst subject was English, the teacher was a bit of a bore and very monotonal.

What is your favourite drink?

Caramel coffee frappe, Cola and Coffee, Frappe’s, coffee and I suppose Tea too. ( I really like coffee!!)

What would you (or have you) named your children?

So if i had my own way one of the boys would have been called Frederick. I love the name but Mark pretty veetoed it and we chose Jack, Oliver and Arthur instead. There are no real reasons behind their names other than –

Jack Andrew – Jack because we like it and Andrew as it is his dad’s and Grandad’s middle name so more a tradition.

Oliver James – I loved the name Bradley and Oliver and couldn’t decide. We eventually chose Oliver and then James as it had a nice ring to it.

Arthur George – Was a complete stab in the dark. I watched Holby City and fell in love with the name after Arthur Digby.

Who are some of your favourite YouTubers?

I have been watching a young lad called Tyler Picton recently on YouTube. He has Fanconi Anaemia and going through a bone marrow transplant. Give him a watch and subscribe!

How many boyfriends have you had?

I have had 3 serious boyfriends. Not that many really, I had lots of little ones at school etc, but nothing to write home about!

Favourite memory from childhood?

This is actually rather difficult as I don’t remember an awful lot about my childhood. If I had to pick one it would be sitting in front of a camcorder telling my dad how school was. He made us record this videos what felt like to me everyday. I remember watching one where I was with a friend, we made biscuits at school but she said we didn’t and called me a liar. Thing is she had a thick yorkshire accent and it was hilarious!

How would you describe your fashion sense?

I don’t think I really have one other than frumpy. In my head, I imagine myself being a band tee, skinny jeans and Dr Martin boot type look but it doesn’t work when your fat. So I am just waddling along wearing clothes that just fit until i lose enough weight to wear I want.

Tell us one of your bad habits?

Up until January, it would have to be biting my nail. For years I was a nail biter but I decided to stop and at the moment for the first time in a long while I have nails. They’re not too long and some of them are a little brittle, but they are getting stronger.

I have had so much fun answering these, So I am tagging 3 of my fellow bloggers to write their own answers. I can not wait to read them!

Sophie, Maria and Joanna
