BlogOnToys Introduction Post – The Mum Diaries –

Next week along with my sisters and my mum (more about that later!) we will be heading to Manchester. It is the weekend of #BlogOnToys and to say I am excited is an understatement. My first Blog On was a year ago and it is a highlight of my calendar by far. Before each BlogOn there is an introduction linky so attendees can get to know each other better, so here is mine.

If you are a blogger and you haven’t been to BlogOn before you are missing out. The next one is on May 4th 2019 so make sure you book your ticket as it really is such a great event.

Share a photograph (a recent one so people can recognise you!)

Gullivers Land

So it isn’t my best photo but it is one of my favourites. Mainly because it is me and my boys having fun!

What is the best thing about blogging?

The best thing about blogging is being able to earn money which allows me to stay at home with the boys longer. I am also thankful for the experiences we have had! Jack and I have been to London twice this year; one was to play with the new Microsoft Surface GO and the other to cook at Jamie Oliver’s Cookery School.

Thanks to blogging we have had some amazing camping trip! We have tried Glamping for the first time and we have had some great trips thanks to the Camping and Caravan Club.

What was your dream job when you were growing up?

Growing up I always wanted to work with children. In my GCSE year I chose Health and Social Care which helped me get a place at college on a childcare course. I worked in nursery’s for 5 years before I became a stay at home mum. I loved my job but quickly realised that thanks to government changes paperwork overtook everything. The focus had changed and it was no longer what I enjoyed doing. There is also very little money working in childcare. Looking after children is still something I want to do again, but I would love to be a Health Visitor. An advocate for breastfeeding, delayed cord clamping and baby wearing.

What is your lucky number?

I don’t have a lucky number per say, but my favourite is 13. It was the number of my first home.

What is your favourite season?

I love Autumn. I don’t like it when it is too hot, but I hate it when it is cold! Autumn is the best of both worlds and although Spring is similar Autumn tends to be drier.

Queensgate Shopping Centre

I love nothing more than collection conkers with the boys and playing in the fallen leaves with them after school! I love Halloween and then countdown to winter/Christmas. Hot Chocolate with whipped cream and sprinkles! Wearing boots and my lovely warm parker style coat.

If you had to choose one what would your favourite dish from the Chinese be?

Chicken Chow Mein! Is my ultimate favourite! I would love to learn to make this at home.

What is your useless talent?

I can roll my tongue.

If you could keep any animal as a pet what would you choose?

Meerkat! I love Meerkats and would love to have one as a pet, but I love them too much to do that.

Which one meal would you eat forever? (If you had to choose one!)

Oooh difficult, I love my food and I am not sure I could just pick one! However if I had to choose then Christmas Dinner with ALL the trimmings!

What is the last thing you check before you lock your front door?

I make sure that all the lights are off and the back door is locked.

If you won £50,000 what would be the first thing you would buy?

I would drive to Starbucks and buy a Caramel Coffee Frapp. I would then clear off any outstanding money and use the rest as a deposit to buy a house.

I would love to buy passports and spend it on a once in a lifetime holiday but we want to own our own home so would try to be realistic.

What is your favourite social media channel?

I don’t really have a favourite as they are all different (to me). I love Facebook as it helps me to keep in touch with family, Twitter for my blog as it has opened loads of opportunities for me. Instagram is great for sharing photos, however the slow growth for my blog on there hasn’t made me love it.

Tell us more about your best ever holiday

Best ever has to be Florida when I was 11. Although I ruined it for everyone as my behaviour was just unacceptable, it is still unbeatable. We witnessed a Space Shuttle launch at Space Kennedy Centre.

Name one cake you rock at baking

Sponge cake! I am rubbish at decorating them though!

Which session are you most looking forward to?

There are a few sessions I am looking forward too! I just hope I remember to actually attend these ones. I usually start of great and attend the first 2 but then I visit the brand den and next thing it is 3pm and the day has gone! I am however really looking forward to Vicki’s session Understand the toy industry.

What is your favourite book ever?

I loved reading Harry Potter books! There is just so much in them that isn’t in the film.

Which special event is your favourite? (Halloween, Christmas etc)

Halloween! I love getting creative with the food and I can’t wait to host our annual party this year!

If the internet vanished right now how would you share your message or life story without a blog?

I take photos! Hundreds of them, so hopefully when the boys are older they have these.

I’m very much an autumn person too. As much as I like good weather, I’ve never been great at coping with heat. See you there!
