When I started The Mum Diaries I wanted to be able to use my blog to share what means to me the most. One of those things that I love is that I live in country where I have access to free healthcare. I suppose I can say I am fortunate not to have to access it all that much. But I am so thankful that whenever I have needed them they are there.
Alder Hey Children’s Hospital
In March 2016 Alder Hey Children’s Hospital and the University of Liverpool opened the first phase of the new State of the art dedicated research, innovation and education facility. Built right next to Alder Hey’s new hospital the centre will lead in the development of safer and more effective medicines for children and young people throughout the world.
The unique institute in the park is a world leading centre for research. Leading clinicians, healthcare professionals and scientists work in partnership with young patient and their families to produce remarkable life saving and life changing results.
The institute is home to around 100 research, education and clinical staff. It has the facilities that no other UK or European children’s hospital can offer. Within the building researchers and clinicians will work to develop safer better medicines.
Alder Hey Children’s Charity are raising vital funds to build the second hase of the institute in the park.
The appeal will allow the hospital to extend the current institute building. It will also develop better treatments for children and young people. The second phase will allow the hospital to double the space available to undertake the world class research.
